Google Drive Will Hit 1 Billion Users
Google doesn't talk much about its cloud storage service and cloud computing programming. Furthermore, Google is always in the limelight for other flagship services like the Gmail, web browser Chrome, YouTube, Google Maps, Google Drive, etc.
A couple of days ago, the tech giant announced that the Google Drive would hit 1 billion users benchmark soon in coming two weeks. One week has already passed since the announcement in San Francisco. Neither Google nor we have the clarification.

When will the cloud storage service Google Drive hit the milestone?
However, if Google Drive gets 1 billion users then, GD will become the 8th product of Google to touch this benchmark. Likewise, few Google products who reached the 1 billion mark are as follows;
- More than 2 billion active devices are running on Android OS.
- Google Photos, a photo sharing, and storage device has a hit of 500 million active users.
- Approximately 1.2 billion photos and videos are uploaded on Google Photo every day.
- Google Maps also has 1 billion users with more than 1 billion kilometers of navigation done on it.
- 1 billion hours of YouTube content is watched every day.
- A few months back, Google Play store achieved the database of 1+ billion users.
Last Year at Google’s annual developer conference I/O 2017, Google Drive was in the reach of 800 million users and 2 trillion of file additions.
Launched in the year 2012, as a file storage service Google Drive offers 15 gigabytes of free storage. More importantly, Google has paid plans for 100 gigabytes, 1 terabyte, 2 terabytes, 10 terabytes, 20 terabytes, and 30 terabytes. Fortunately, this year Google dropped the paid storage plans for Drive. With that, Google changed Google Drive’s name into Google One. Thus, cloud storage plans are now available at low costs.
“Talking about the cost, a user can add up to five family members to a single Google One Plan while paying only one bill.”
A new 200GB plan is now available at $3 per month while the 2TB plan is now reduced at $10 per month. On the other hand, the cost of other plans remains the same. A 100GB storage space is for $2 per month and 30TB storage space is at $300 per month.
Following this, the company is now introducing new features to the service. The new services include the following updates:
- A smart-sharing option to the Access Checker tool.
- A user can comment on the MS files without doing conversions.
- Earlier this year, a Gmail-like design was given to Google Drive’s web-client.

Assuming the statistics of Google products, the company doesn’t want to rest. Also, would like to get maximum no of users on it's all products and services. The company, on the other hand, has neither clarified nor said anything about a particular time when Google Drive will reach 1 billion marks. But, as soon as Google Drive touches 1 billion user mark, Google’s popular cyber-lock services will be added as the new features on Google Drive.
